A lot of buzz is going around the makeup community about the Nivea for Men After (or Post) Shave Balm for Sensitive Skin. I believe Nikkie Tutorials on Youtube first talked about it and from then on, everyone seems to be trying it. Including me! Because this is supposed to act as a primer, I used it for about a week, and really tested it out - experiment style. Keep reading to see what I discovered!
I tried it out to test the longevity of the product, since people claim it is a great primer. The primary ingredient is glycerin which is supposed to help your makeup stick to your face better/longer. So I figured the only way to make sure this helped my makeup last longer was to try it on half of my face and wear it for 12+ hours and see if there was a difference.
On more than one day, I put on my makeup exactly the same on both sides and only put the primer on one side. I did not use setting spray so I could really test out the longevity of the primer, but I did put powder under my eyes.

Can you tell which half had the primer and which didn't? If you've having trouble, it's okay. I can't tell the difference either. I checked in every few hours and I honestly could not see a visible difference between each sides. I put the primer on the right side of my face, so in the picture it's the left half of my face.
The things I noticed as time wore down was that my blush faded, the illuminator I applied on my cheekbones had faded a little and melted more into my skin, my lipstick had faded because I ate and my lashes were losing their curl. For the second photo I reapplied my lipstick and re-curled my lashes but didn't touch up anything on the rest of my face. In my opinion, my foundation held up pretty well over 12 hours, perhaps because I was using the Revlon Colorstay 24 hour wear foundation. I did try it the next day with L'Oreal Infallible Pro Matte foundation but I also noticed the same thing. Which makes me conclude, unfortunately, that this product does not act as a primer and does not enhance the longevity of my foundation and makeup. I
That's not to say this product was an entire waste of money, there are some things I do like about it.
Overall, I wouldn't rule out using this product as a primer. I mean my foundation stayed on for 12+ hours, so it might work for you, and if not just give it to your dad, your brother, your boyfriend, your husband etc. Another use for it could be to apply it to your arms and legs after you've shaved.

- It feels smooth and refreshing on your face
- Does not break me out
- Smells like men's aftershave which reminds me of my Dad - the smell fades after it's applied
- It's inexpensive, around $7-8 at Walmart for 100 ml (vs other primers that sell for $10/20 ml)
- The bottle is very sturdy, the bottle is made of a hard glass type material (but I don't think it's glass)
