Good skincare is key in life, it is SO important to take care of your skin. That's why I'm coming at you with another skin care review! If you struggle with breakouts and acne, this Detox mask by Muddy Body is targeted for your skin care needs! To read my review, click Read More below!
Price & Shipping
This mask retails for $23.99 USD and ships worldwide. They have free shipping for US orders over $40, and it's not hard to spend that much - Muddy Body has 2 other masks (Relax and Refresh) and a 24k Gold Skin Elixir on their website. To ship to Canada, I had a few options for shipping, with the cheapest being ~$6 USD (which, naturally I got). I ordered on February 6 and received my order on February 21, it took 2 weeks to get here. When it got here, it was packaged very well with bubble tape so it wouldn't break despite the bottle being made of glass. I appreciated that!
There are a TON of coupon codes to take money off your purchase. Just go onto their Instagram @muddybody_ and check photos they have been tagged in, you'll easily find someone's coupon code.
Product Details and Claims
This product is all natural, handmade in the US, vegan and cruelty free. It comes in a small glass jar that fits 2 oz/60 g worth of product.
The company claims that this product:
Ingredients: Dead Sea Clay, Bentonite Clay, Activated Charcoal, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Powder*, Theobroma Cacao (Cacao) Powder*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Milk Powder, Althaea Officinalis (Marshmallow Root) Powder*, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric Root) Powder*, Symphytum Officinale (Comfrey Root) Powder*. Certified Organic*
On the website there is a list of the benefits attributed to each of the ingredients, I highly suggest you check it out HERE, just click on the Ingredients tab.
So this product sounds amazing if your concern is clearing your face of those pesky little (or ginormous) pimples, right? I am definitely struggling with acne ALL THE TIME. That's why I'm such a great tester to see if these kinds of masks actually work (because what use is it for me if someone with already gorgeous skin uses it and looks gorgeous after?).
How To Use
Mix a spoonful of powder with liquid to achieve the consistency you want. Apply on dry, cleansed skin, leave on for 10-15 to let the mask dry and wash off with warm water. You can use water to activate the mask, but you can also try a lot of other things like tea, rosewater, yogurt, honey, apple cider vinegar etc.
First Impressions/First Use
When the mask arrived, honestly speaking it was smaller than I expected it to be. The bottle, which fits 60 g of product, is about the size of my palm.
To put together the mask, I used a plastic container, a plastic spoon and applied the mask with a flat foundation brush I set aside specifically for applying masks like these. I used water for my first time and applied to my face and let it dry for 15 min and washed it off. I found it more difficult to apply compared to the Aztec Indian Healing Clay mask which only contains calcium bentonite. It was harder to find the right consistency to mix, I couldn't measure it out as I do with the other mask because the opening is too small and when I apply it on my face, sometimes the brush will actually take off product in certain areas instead of applying more which never happens with the Aztec Indian Healing Clay mask.
I was surprised that when I took it off though, my face appeared a bit brighter, it didn't irritate my skin at all, it didn't cause my whole face to be super red after (which happens with the Aztec Indian Healing Clay mask), it made my skin feel softer and I felt like my nose was cleaner. There are pictures below for objective proof (sorry for the super close up), but I don't think it shows up dramatically (plus I have freckles and hair in the way). Overall, my skin didn't dramatically change after 15 min, but there were small subtle signs that led me to feel good about the results.
I used the mask during my 8 week trial of the Tria Beauty 3 Step Acne Solution, and this was during my 6th week. You can check out that post HERE. If you are new to my bare face, it has a lot of imperfections (and I know). I struggle with acne, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation left behind from acne (it's not pretty) and sometimes its worse than others (this was not a great skin week for me).

Does It Work?
I have used the mask now for about 10 times, mostly with water and once with apple cider vinegar (which work about the same I find) and the first thing I'll say is I haven't noticed wonders. My acne marks aren't fading, though the mask is not formulated to target that skin issue and neither has my acne gone away. However, immediately after I take off the mask, I feel that my skin is cleaner, smoother and brighter. It helps calm my face before I go to sleep which I like. I don't find I have huge pores the majority of the time, so I can't really speak to whether or not it reduced my pore size. The day or two after I use the mask, I feel like my skin is clearing up from whatever state it was in before I used the mask.
This doesn't treat acne at its source, so it does make sense that my acne hasn't gone away. However, it does seem to help during breakouts.
Overall Impression
I do like this mask, but I still feel like the hype on Instagram is too huge. It is cool that you can see it go into some of your pores and I do find it helps my skin when I'm going through bad skin days/weeks. While I find it didn't totally clear my face personally, it might for you since we all have different skin and different factors contributing to our acne. I do like the ingredients in the mask and I would like to continue using this mask, but I'm just not sure if I will be continually repurchasing due to the price. While I do like this product, it's not a holy grail or a game changer for me and because each bottle contains 60 g I have a feeling if I wanted to continue using it regularly I would have to repurchase every month and a half or so and I'm not 100% sure I'm willing to spend that money. That being said, I would ideally like to repurchase this mask and/or another one of the masks they sell in the future when they are on sale and I can get a good price with shipping to Canada. I hope what I said makes sense, but if you have any questions please let me know in the comments!
If you do want to purchase this mask, definitely check their Instagram @muddybody_ and search up reviews, you'll easily find discount codes and sales!
