I bought this foundation at least 3 weeks ago and waited until I tried it out several times before giving my opinion on it. As all my reviews are and always will be, this is 100% my honest opinion of the product.
This foundation claims to give a demi-matte finish, medium coverage, air-light coverage and to last up to 24 hours. The back of the foundation states that the best way to apply this foundation is to smooth onto skin in rolling motion for flawless coverage.
I bought this foundation in the shade 108 Caramel Beige. It cost me $17 which is a tad pricey to me but I am willing to pay even more than that for a good foundation. I apply this foundation by dotting it onto my face and taking my Real Techniques brush and pressing the foundation into my skin. Something that you're going to want to make sure to do with this foundation is shake the bottle before squirting some out. It's very important, or it will come out watery. So SHAKE the foundation, okay?
In regards to the claims this foundation makes, I do agree with them. I have dry skin, and I always make sure to put on moisturizer before I apply makeup. I found that as long as I don't have dry patches, the foundation sits demi-matte on my skin without a problem. If you have dry skin you need to moisturize before you apply this foundation for sure, don't skip it! If you have oily skin, I cannot really speak to that, but you should try it out to see if it works for you. I do find that it gets a little crusty around pimples, but it's not too huge an issue. Other than that, I don't feel that it is heavy on my skin and it does have medium coverage. For me this is alright, but I need added coverage with concealer for problem areas, primarily problem pimples and acne scars. No matter what I do, my acne scars always show through, so that's something I need to work on with my skin. As for long lasting, I do find that this foundation looks the same when I first put it on until I take it off. The longest I have worn this foundation is about 9 hours, and I have also worn it for hours in the blistering heat and sun.
I do have a few problems with this foundation though. First is the color, I find that mine is probably the closest to my skin tone but it feels like I have to put it everywhere to make sure there are no lines showing where the foundation is and where it isn't. The trouble with drugstore foundation is that you can't always test all the colors just because the testers somehow seem to disappear. The color is not an issue with the quality of the foundation itself, so I don't count it against the product at all. The second problem I have is that I don't particularly enjoy the smell of the foundation. It isn't strong, but there is a smell. It doesn't last however so I am okay dealing with it. The last point is that I just don't enjoy the way the foundation applies, however it isn't something I can really pinpoint as being wrong and I like the way it looks so again it isn't a large issue.
At the end of the day, here's how I rank this foundation (out of 5 stars for everything):
Price: ★★★
Coverage: ★★★★
Application: ★★★
Wear: ★★★★
Finish (matte): ★★★★
Duration: ★★★★★
Overall: ★★★★
Bottom Line
If you are looking for a new foundation to try out (especially if you have trouble keeping your face matte) I would definitely try this foundation out!
