Colourpop Cosmetics (if you haven't already heard of it) is a new company based out of LA. They have been in business for over a year now and let me tell you they are pretty awesome! Everyone began loving them when they ordered their eyeshadows. They are quite unique, they feel cushiony and the colour payoff is intense. However this post is about the ultra matte lippies that they came out a little while ago. They started out with 25 beautiful shades in the line and then added 8 new colors very recently. The best part is, they are only $6!!!
I placed an order for the two I wanted the most: Limbo and Trap. I placed my order on July 28, had it shipped on August 3 and received it on August 10.
First off let's talk about the packaging. It's gorgeous! I love the boxes they arrive in, but I love the tubes even more! Can we say hubba hubba to that holographic lettering?! Yes please!!

When I tested the products out what I found was that I really liked the applicator. I found it quite easy to maneuver the applicator to fill in my lips. I also found that I didn't need to dip back into the tube to cover my lips entirely. It did dry by the time I was done, but I didn't find that to be a problem. I tested out a second coat and it applied beautifully on top. The product does not have any smell to it that I found, so it will appeal to everyone.
Throughout the time I wore it, I found that it was VERY long lasting even through eating and drinking (it didn't BUDGE, I swear!), it didn't feather outside of my lips, and it felt very light. It was also completely transfer and kiss proof! How amazing!?
It was not moisturizing on the lips, but it wasn't excessively drying either. I think that was perfectly acceptable to expect for a matte liquid lipstick.
At the end of the day, I simply wiped them away with a baby/makeup wipe, I didn't have to fight my lips to get it off which I really appreciated too!
The only bad thing I could find about the product was that if I bit/licked at my lip, it did wear away though. But to be honest, of course it would have!
To summarize, the Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip products are great because:
- Affordable! ($6 each)
- Great formula
- Long-wearing
- Transfer and kiss proof
- No feathering
- Lightweight
- Great packaging + applicator
- Easy removal
Seriously, these things are a steal, go out and buy them! I didn't think there would be no real negatives to this product. I usually am able to be 100% honest and write about both the good and bad things about a product, but I seriously love them! The only thing I will say, is that to make it look even better I would recommend using a lip liner with the darker shades to define your lip shape.
Here are some swatches of the two shades I bought.
I hope you enjoyed my review and consider purchasing some Ultra Matte Lip products for yourself! You can find me on instagram @themakeupdiaryblog and email me at [email protected] for questions or business inquiries.
